Many of you recently participated in a Refugee Communications Survey which CORE conducted from August 24 – September 7. The purpose of the survey was to get feedback on the digital channels and resources developed for CORE’s Refugee Communications Initiative. We received 162 responses to the survey. THANK YOU! Here are some of the results:

  • 71% of you said you visit the CORENav website once a month or more; one of you said you visit it every day!
  • 57% of you said you had encountered no barriers when using the CORENav website.
  • 28% said that CORENav content is not in languages of refugees with whom you work.
  • 18% identified no Wi-Fi or the inability to download resources as a barrier to using CORENav resources.
  • 21% of you had downloaded the Settle In mobile app.
  • 69% of you reported that you had never used Settle In with a refugee.
  • 13% of you expressed uncertainty about how to use the app in your work.
  • 81% of you expressed an interest in taking an online course focusing on using digital resources with refugees.

CORE’s Response

As translations are costly, we’ve prioritized languages based on the pipeline. We’d love to translate everything, but that is always contingent on funding. We’ll keep you posted as new translations become available.

We’re working on a storage and access solution from which you will be able to download videos and podcasts to your desktop, laptop, or other device. Stay tuned for more information.

We’re planning a number of upcoming training opportunities that will help you integrate CORE’s refugee communications resources into your work and maximize the use of digital technology in resettling refugees. In addition to the webinar  Using CORE’s Refugee Communications Toolkit in Your Resettlement Office , CORE has developed a new fact sheet on Digital Awareness for Refugees. An accompanying lesson plan is coming soon. We’re also developing a comprehensive online course focusing on using digital resources with refugees. Look for the new course in early 2019!
