Updates on CORE’s Summer of Learning

Refugees learning about money management during a cultural orientation class

This summer, CORE is offering Cultural Orientation providers a variety of capacity building and training opportunities. In June, CORE launched a new online lesson, Delivering Interactive One-on-One Cultural OrientationWatch the video above featuring some of the course content.

As a follow up to this online lesson, CORE also kicked off its first virtual practicum on the same subject. Running throughout July, this virtual practicum supports a cohort of 20 participants from 16 resettlement organizations to discuss and implement some of the techniques and skills covered in the lesson.

Next will be CORE’s new Cultural Orientation Knowledge Exchange Workshops on August 6 in Atlanta, Georgia, and August 9 in Chicago, Illinois. These workshops bring resettlement staff together around the topic of enhancing Cultural Orientation delivery focusing on adult learning principles and the integration of CORE’s resources. Expanding the agenda of previous CORE workshops, these workshops will feature new activities and concurrent afternoon sessions to maximize learning and knowledge exchange. Registration closes July 17. Contact your Cultural Orientation Focal Points for more information.
