Did you know CORE has a new Integrating Digital Technology in Cultural Orientation online course available? Access the course and others by logging in today. All courses only take 20 to 40 minutes to complete.
2. Pick one Cultural Orientation topic and make it more interactive
Adapting Cultural Orientation for remote delivery might feel overwhelming, so consider starting with one topic or section of your class. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Review CORE’s Promising Practice: Delivering Effective Remote Cultural Orientation for in-depth guidance and tips to create engaging remote Cultural Orientation.
- Browse the CORE Resettlement Navigator website for videos and podcasts to use during your sessions. Use the ‘For Providers’ section of the site to filter resources by type, language, and topic.
- Visit the Activity Bank and discover new ways to bring interaction into your sessions. The page is organized by Cultural Orientation topic and includes activities for in-person and remote use.
3. Download the Settle In app
CORE’s Settle In app is a great tool for refugees before and after they arrive in the United States. Settle In, available as a mobile or desktop app, provides relevant Cultural Orientation information through interactive quizzes and learning activities. It is free to download and use in Arabic, Burmese, Dari, English, Kinyarwanda, Russian, and Swahili. The lessons can be used offline after you’ve downloaded the app and selected a language.
