Rule of Law Lesson Plan

By definition, refugees have a well-founded fear of persecution, often from government authorities or from other powerful social entities. This lesson plan is designed to introduce refugees to some fundamental concepts related to the rule of law and due process in the United States context. Refugee resettlement staff can use this lesson plan to enhance their Cultural Orientation curriculum on the topic.

After this lesson, refugees will have more confidence in their safety, and start building a sense of civic pride and responsibility.

Activities included in the lesson plan:

    • Guided Discussion
    • Chopped Tree Scenario
    • Rule of Law in the United States Activity

Additional Fact Sheet and Podcast for this lesson plan can be found on the CORE Resettlement Navigator website. Learn more about using these resources by listening to a recorded webinar.
