Refugees coming to the United States have varying experiences and perceptions of law enforcement. To help refugees navigate police interactions in their new communities, CORE created a new suite of resources.
Using plain language and informative images, the resources highlight where refugees might encounter police, appropriate ways to interact with law enforcement, and legal rights during the encounters.
The resources are available as an animated video, fact sheet, and podcast. All versions are translated into Arabic, Burmese, Dari, Kinyarwanda, Russian, and Swahili. The fact sheet includes a printable card refugees can carry and hand to police that lists their refugee status, interpretation needs, and any relevant medical conditions.
