Thanks to IOM, a Karen language version of CORE’s animated video Coronavirus (COVID-19): How to Protect Yourself and Stop the Spread of the Virus is now available. The video, intended for refugees with limited literacy, is helpful in informing refugees about the main symptoms of the disease, prevention tips, and steps to take if they suspect they are sick. The video is available on CORE’s YouTube channel.
As a reminder, CORE has created a variety of resources and guidance for both Cultural Orientation providers and refugees about COVID-19. COVID-19 resources to support Cultural Orientation providers and other staff can be found on the CORE website and the CORE Resettlement Navigator website. Below are some recently added resources:
- CDC: Communications Toolkit for Migrants, Refugees, and Other Limited-English Proficient Populations helps public health professionals, health departments, community organizations, and healthcare systems and providers reach populations who may need COVID-19 messages in their native languages.
- CDC: COVID-19 in Newly Resettled Refugee Populations webpage supports individuals working with refugee populations.
- CDC: Use of Cloth Face Coverings to Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19 (Translated into multiple languages)
- The Refugee Response: COVID-19 Fake News and Scams (Available in four languages including Burmese, Pashto, Kiswahili, and Karen)
