Updated: Afghan Placement and Assistance (APA) Cultural Orientation Objectives and Indicators

CORE updated the Afghan Placement and Assistance (APA) Cultural Orientation Objectives and Indicators on January 18. The revised Objectives and Indicators now include two additional Cultural Orientation topics—Public Assistance and Transportation—and required messaging about polygamy under U.S. Laws.

The APA Objectives and Indicators differ slightly from the Reception and Placement Cultural Orientation Objectives and Indicators in four main ways:

1. The APA document includes one additional CO topic: Parole Status
2. Specific messaging about polygamy under U.S. Laws
3. Replaces the word “refugees” with “Afghan parolees”
4. Other adjustments related to early resettlement service dates in alignment with the APA Cooperative Agreement.
